Yesterday the new Mid America League team to play in Abilene Texas (Walt Driggers Field) announced the final name chosen from its name the team promotion. The team will be named the Abilene Flying Bison, although on certain games it will play as the Abilene Blue Socks.
We found a recent news clip from the BigCountryHomePage YouTube channel which mentioned the upcoming Abilene team in the Mid America League. The news clip covers recent minor league teams in Abilene. Scott Kirk, President of the new Abilene team (team name still to be announced), spoke in this news clip as well.

The Mid America League recently added a page on Team Work Online’s website for general manager and other front office positions. The teams are planned to be located in Texas, Arkansas and possibly Louisiana and/or Oklahoma.

This week the Mid America League announced that White Oak Texas will host a new team called Piney Woods. This link is for the press release about the team announcement:
“We are thrilled to have a franchise in White Oak that represents the entire East Texas region,” said Matt Perry, President of the Mid America League, via press statement. “The East Texas region has produced some of the best baseball players in the State of Texas and we are excited to bring baseball back to East Texas after a long absence.”
The Piney Woods franchise will be led by David Upchurch. Upchurch, a former 19th-round draft pick in 1994 for the Kansas City Royals, will be president and part owner of the Piney Woods franchise.
“I am thrilled and humbled at the opportunity to bring premier development baseball back to the East Texas region,” Upchurch said via press release.
