Bryan Baseball Franchise Announce Finalists in the “Name the Team” Contest
Six Final Names Revealed – Fans to Choose Winner
Bryan, Texas – The Bryan Baseball Franchise of the Mid-America League today announced the six finalists in its “Name the Team” contest, giving fans the chance to help shape the identity of their new professional baseball franchise. The finalists reflect the city’s deep history, culture, and character:
- Bryan Yard Dogs – Tough, loyal, and built for hard work. This name captures the gritty, blue-collar energy of Bryan’s rail yards and work crews that helped shape the community.
- Bryan Iron Horses – A tribute to the locomotives that connected Texas towns and powered progress across the region. Strong, fast, and unstoppable—just like the team it represents.
- Bryan Rail Runners – Inspired by the trains that have long run through the Brazos Valley, this name combines speed and precision with the hometown rhythm of the rails.
- Bryan Gandy Dancers – A historic nod to the rail workers who laid the tracks that built America. Named after the rhythmic “gandy dancers” who worked in unison to keep the lines true and the trains rolling.
- Bryan Yodel Dogs – A fun, Texas-flavored twist inspired by the howls and harmonies of the coyotes that roam the Brazos Valley nights. Spirited, loud, and full of character, these “dogs” embody the wild energy and musical heart of Texas.
- Bryan Yard Bulls – A strong, bold name symbolizing power and determination, inspired by the iron bulls of the rail yards and the competitive spirit of Texas baseball.
“Bryan has always been a hardworking, tight-knit community — the kind of place that shows up, rolls up its sleeves, and has a good time doing it,” said Nick Weisenborn, Executive Director of the Mid-America League. “These names capture that same spirit: a little grit, and a whole lot of Texas pride.”
The chosen identity will take the field for the franchise’s inaugural season in the Mid-America League, beginning in May 2026. Fans can vote for their favorite team name now through November 16th by visiting the team’s official landing page at www.baseballinbryan.com. The winning name will be unveiled, with a full brand reveal—including logo, and colors.
Launched in 2024, the Mid America League has quickly become one of the premier summer baseball leagues in America. The league features top collegiate players alongside post-college players pursuing professional baseball careers. These athletes include players who were undrafted, unsigned free agents, or former professionals working to return to affiliated baseball. The league compensates its players through a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program, which is closely monitored by the league.
The Mid America League currently consists of franchises in: Joplin, MO; Fort Smith, AR; Texarkana, TX; White Oak/Longview, TX; Sherman, TX and Abilene, TX. The Bryan franchise joins Fort Scott, Kansas, Beaumont, Texas and Nacogdoches, Texas as one of four new expansion teams debuting in 2026. The Mid America League is committed to growing and strengthening independent baseball in the region.
